Life Care Centers of America presented its Danette Henry Servant Leader Award to Mark Hood, vice president of clinical systems, on Dec. 13.

The award was given during the company’s annual Corporate Christmas Party and recognizes an associate at the corporate offices in Cleveland for outstanding customer service to Life Care’s more than 220 facilities nationwide.

“Mark Hood is one of those special people who has dedicated his life to serving others with professional skills and compassion,” said Beecher Hunter, Life Care president.

The Danette Henry Servant Leader Award, originally the Corporate Support Award, was renamed to honor the legacy of Danette Henry, Life Care’s director of payroll, who passed away in early 2008. Henry was a two-time winner of the Corporate Support Award.

“To receive this award is very humbling,” Hood said. “Knowing who and what the award represents makes it very special and something I will never forget.”

Hood was praised for his willingness to do whatever it takes to improve systems and processes to improve resident care. He spent most of this year assisting with the implementation of the first phase of an electronic charting system across the company, travelling to Life Care divisional offices and facilities around the country to help train and encourage associates.

“By becoming more electronic in our documentation, associates can react more quickly to the needs of a resident,” Hood said.

“Mark’s work with our information technology department in development of our industry-leading software positively impacts the lives and wellbeing of thousands of our residents now and untold numbers to come,” Hunter said.
