Edwin G. Jackson, 81, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, in a Chattanooga hospital.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Vernice Gravitt Jackson, who passed away on Nov. 4, 2012. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Ray G. Jackson and Bessie Lee Pickett Jackson; and brother, Billy Jackson.

Survivors include his children: Larry Jackson and wife, Donna, and Vickie Sharp and husband, Andy, all of Cleveland; grandson and special caregiver, Derrick Jackson and wife, Diane, of Cleveland; other grandchildren: Timothy Sharp and wife, Chrystal, Christina McKenzie and husband, Eric, all of Cleveland, Jeff Jackson and wife, Katie, of Conroe, Texas; great-grandchildren: Brianna Jackson, Tucker Sharp, Baylon Jackson and Bryson Jackson, all of Cleveland, Sydney Jackson of Conroe, Texas, Lexi McKenzie of Cleveland, and Ellie Jackson of Conroe; two stepgreat-grandchildren: Daykota Smallen and Gracie Turner, both of Cleveland; and two sisters: Colleen Payne and Marjorie Massengale, both of Chattanooga.

The funeral will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Rev. Frank Underwood officiating.

Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with grandsons and great-grandsons serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.
