Nina Margaret Baker, 70, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 2, 2013, in a local hospital.

She was the daughter of the late Joy Longley Bivens and Kenneth Bivens. She was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Baker; and her maternal grandparents, George and Chassie Longley.

She was a graduate of Charleston High School. She was retired from Hardwick Clothes as a seamstress with 45 years of service. She enjoyed going to the Senior Citizens Center, Lady Vols Basketball, riding in the mountains and she enjoyed listening to the Roaring 50’s Singing Group. Most of all she enjoyed being with her family.

She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Tabernacle.

Survivors include her daughters: Linda McDaniel Baker and her husband, Douglas, and Sharon Morrison and her husband, Kevin, all of Cleveland; son, the Rev. John Bivens and his wife, Patti, of Cleveland; grandchildren: Jessica, Ashley and Zachary Morrison, Ryan and Kyle Baker, all of Cleveland; brother, George Thomas of Decatur; nephew, Cody Thomas and his wife, Emily; her cousins: Nancy Shannon and her husband, Jerry, Tyler Shannon, and Brad Shannon and his wife, Carmen.

The Remembrance of Life service will be held Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at 11 a.m. from the Wildwood Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes with the Revs. Floyd Boggess and John Bivens officiating.

Interment will follow in the Samples Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery with Kile Baker, Ryan Baker, Zakery Morrison, Ronnie Haney, Danny Haney and Kieth Thompson serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
