Bradley Central High School recently inducted their first members into their inaugural Interact Club.

Interact is Rotary International’s service organization intended to help young people ages 14-18 learn to lead, connect, and serve. Through Interact, students can expect to make new friends, both locally and internationally; improve the community in which they live through local service projects; and develop leadership skills as they organize local and international projects to ultimately make a positive difference in the world.

The ceremony lasted about two hours and featured several members from the sponsoring Rotary Club, including: former Rotary president Kim Casteel, assistant district governor for Rotary District 6780 Don Ritzhaupt and state Rep. Kevin Brooks. The guests spoke to the students about the importance of service and the leadership opportunities available to them through Interact.

Rotary contact for Bradley Central Victor Boltniew also spoke during the ceremony. He has been instrumental in helping the school sponsors start the Interact program at Bradley Central. Boltniew, on behalf of Rotary, presented the BCHS Interact club with a check which will be used to support the many activities that the club intends to participate in.

During the ceremony, students pledged to work together toward meeting the goals of Interact. Some of these goals include: recognize and develop constructive leadership and personal integrity; provide opportunities for gaining increased knowledge and understanding of community, national, and world affairs; and to open avenues of personal and group action leading to the advancement of international understanding and goodwill toward all peoples.
