He was born in Wallins Creek, Ky. on February 22, 1930, a son of the late George and Della Smith.
He was retired from Star Tool & Die in Detroit, Mich. and also from Flowers Bakery in Cleveland. He had served his country and was a veteran of the United States Navy.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one sister, Pauline Grimsley; and four brothers: Ed, George, Hope, and Jim.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 60 years, Barbara; two daughters: Teresa Smith of Cleveland and Lynn Vandersall and husband, Terry, of Michigan; one son, Ralph Curtis Smith and wife, Gail, of Arizona; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous other extended family members and friends.
The family held a private visitation and service.
