CDPA holds 2012 Winter Gala, crowns Christmas dance winners

CDPAC recently held its 2012 Winter Gala at Lee University's Dixon Center.  Dancers from CDPAC & The Avant Garde Company performed group dances as well as solos. Chilhowee Dance and Performing Arts Center recently held its 2012 Winter Gala at Lee University’s Dixon Center.

Dancers from CDPAC & The Avant Garde Company performed group dances as well as solos.

Guest performers provided entertainment. Lydia Mitchell, the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Brian Mitchell, performed a violin piece. CDPAC alum Danielle Farrell, a dance major at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Okla., performed, also. The Young Americans professional dancer Jacob Carrell performed a solo piece. Carrell is currently on tour performing in Japan and just recently finished a six-month tour in Europe and Africa.

CDPAC crowned the Christmas dance title winners voted on by all CDPAC dancers, family members and friends:

— Teen Miss Christmas Emily Derrick is the daughter of Michael and April Derrick of Cleveland.

— Junior Miss Christmas Lexi Valliere is the daughter of Robert and Allyson Valliere of Ooltewah.

— Petite Miss Christmas Shelbee Headrick-Swaggerty is the daughter of Junior and Faye Swaggerty of Benton.

— Little Miss Christmas Presley McDermott is the daughter of Ryan and Brooklyn McDermott of Cleveland.

CDPAC is owned and operated by Dr. and Mrs. Charles M. Hooper III of Chattanooga. Contributing staff includes Caitlyn Lynn, assistant artistic director; Tria Montgomery, director of public relations; Allyson Valliere; Bill Reid; Abigail Bowman; and Abbi Cook, office assistant.

The National Champions Avant Garde Company will begin its competitive season in February.
