He was a retired Church of God minister, and a member of the North Cleveland Church of God.
He was preceded in death by his parents, G.W. Hensley and Amanda Hensley Williamson; wife, Viola Gann Hensley; infant son, Charles Edward Hensley; brother, Franklin and Hilman Hensley; sisters: Mae Hixson, Rosie Harden and Ester Lee Stokes; and great-granddaughter, Jaime Gilliam.
Survivors include his sons: Lonnie (Glenna) Hensley of Ooltewah and Dwight (Bertie) Hensley of Newport; daughters: Polly (Lewis) Gilliam of Spring City, Lucille (Alfred) Morisett of Jefferson City, Connie (Joe) Fowler of Newport; brother, Lloye Hensley; sisters: Hannah Bettis, Jean Potts, Faith Gilliam and Vanette Caldwell; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Pastors Mitch Maloney and Marshall Roberson officiating.
Interment will follow in Grasshopper Cemetery.
A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. today and Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
