Raymond and Bettye Bennett of Lenoir City, who married on Feb. 3, 1963, celebrated their anniversary in December 2012 on a five-day cruise with their four children, eight grandchildren and other family members (18 in all). Formerly of Cleveland, Mr. Bennett is one of the 13 children of the late Andrew Franklin Sr. and Clara Bennett, who had a farm on Hunt Road in the Waterville community (now known as Bennett Acres) and were founders of and attended Waterville Baptist Church. Mr. Bennett is a 1957 graduate of Bradley Central High School and served 14 years in the Tennessee National Guard. The anniversary couple met in Nashville and after their marriage, moved to Lenoir City, where they developed several businesses including a service station, grocery story and deli, florist and real estate company before retiring in 2012. They have been active in their church and community and have served in several civic organizations.
