He retired from Vestal Manufacturing after 37 years service.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lovella Johnson Gentry; parents, Atlas Boone and Earlie Gentry; brothers: A.B. Gentry, Cecil Gentry, and twin siblings Billie and Bobby Gentry.
Survivors include daughters and son-in-law: Brenda Gail Best, Linda Gentry Reynolds and Virgil Reynolds; son, James Gentry of Sweetwater; grandchildren: Danny Eugene Best and Mindy Best, Lisa Gail Best and Tony Lynn Reynolds; great-grandchildren: Savannah Nicole Best, Haylee Coburn, Kaden McKeown and Chloe Lovella Best; sisters: Laura Johnson of Sweetwater, Sadie Shepherd of Madisonville, and Linda Miller, and husband, Wayne of Tellico Plains; brothers: Charles Wayne Gentry and wife, Kathy, of Cleveland, Donnie Ray Gentry and wife, Teresa, of Etowah, and Billy Gentry and wife, Teresa of Madisonville; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral was held at 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at Biereley-Hale Funeral Home in Madisonville with the Revs. Tommy Self and Niles Dockery officiating.
Interment will be at 3 p.m. today at Oak Grove Baptist Cemetery.
