Chick-fil-A Leadercast is the largest one-day leadership in the world and Cleveland can join in May 10 as it is simulcast live from the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.
People for Care and Learning and Cleveland/Bradley Chamber of Commerce are offering the one-day event to individuals and organizations that want to improve leadership skills through simplification.
One way to simplify life is to experience the event by remote broadcast in the First Baptist Church at 1275 Stuart Road N.E. Watch the event in comfort instead of driving to Atlanta, paying for gas, dealing with traffic, parking and trying to make it mean something 50,000 others in the stadium.
People for Care and Learning Director Fred Garmon said, “You’re probably not going to be on the front row and you’re going to be looking at video screens whether you’re in the Georgia Dome or whether you’re setting here with us in Cleveland.”
Leadercast is one of two annual leadership events sponsored by Chick-fil-A. One is geared more toward churches, but Leadercast is directed toward business. That event will be in the Georgia Dome on May 10 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“It will be packed with 50,000 people there. They simulcast it to hundreds, possibly thousands of locations all over the United States,” Garmon said. “People for Care and Learning and Cleveland/Bradley Chamber of Commerce have teamed up for what we’re calling, the first annual event. We want to make this an annual event that we sponsor for the Cleveland and Bradley County community so that corporations, churches and leaders can come together for one opportunity on one day.”
Speakers include Duke University basketball coarch Mike Krzyzewski, Olympic Gold Medalist Sanya Richards-Ross, former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice, Navy SEAL Lt. Cdr. Rorke Denver, former General Electric chief executive officer and chairman Jack Welch and others.
“Every year the leadership lineup of national and international speakers are the best — the top tier of people from their areas of expertise,” he said. “These people will be talking about leadership development, motivation, inspiration, teamwork, team development, conflict management and all of these things that come to bear in our work environments.”
The event is a concentrated effort to provide cutting-edge leadership development for employees, staff, families or whatever the case may be.
“We want to provide an experience that will have them walking away saying ‘Wow, that was great!’” he said. “We want them to go back the next week and unpack that among their employees, among their staff and determine what they heard that was context-sensitive for us.”
He said modern lives are full of new things that marketed to grow businesses and increase influence, but leading in a complex world requires simplicity to cut through the clutter.
The church will be filled with 40 tables with seating for eight. Almost all of the tables have been sold at a cost of $500 each. Breakfast and lunch from Chick-fil-A is included in the price.
“Then you’ve got all of the stadium seating in the sanctuary where individuals can buy tickets. We can hold up to 700 people and we believe those seats are going to go fast,” he said. “This is one of the ways People for Care and Learning and the Chamber believe we can add value to the community in a way that doesn’t touch what other people are doing.”
He said there is magic when everyone is in the same room and these are going to be the top executives, entrepreneurs, educators and church leaders in our area.
“They’re all going to be packed in there in one location and one place,” he said. “If you want to make connections; if you want to develop relationships; if you want to be on the cutting edge of what’s happening in terms of inspiration and motivation, then you want to be a Leadercast.”
