Donald J. Welk, 80, of Dyersburg, died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, at his residence surrounded by his family.
He was born on Wednesday, July 13, 1932, in Chicago. He was the son of the late Joseph Tobias Welk and the late Mary Theresa Kent Welk.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Caroline Jean Hickman Welk; and one brother, Gerald Welk.
He was retired from Otasco Department Store where he worked as an appliance salesman. He was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran.
Survivors include two sons: Chris M. Welk of Dyersburg and Eric Joseph Welk and his wife, Tammy, of Cleveland; two brothers: Dennis Welk of The Villages, Fla., and Joseph Welk of Phoenix; one sister, Kathleen Frait of Sarasota, Fla.; four grandchildren: Joey Welk of Dyersburg, Chelsey Welk, Lydia Welk and Brandon Welk, all of Cleveland; and one great-grandson, Bryson Welk.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg with Jerry Leach officiating.
Pallbearers will be Eric Welk, Joseph Welk, Chelsea Welk, Frank Stover and Cade Stover.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Johnson-Williams Funeral, 239 East Main St., Newbern TN 38059.
