A native of Athens, she was born there on May 20, 1939.
She and her husband Don moved to Rockford, Ill., in 1958 and lived there until 1969 when they returned to Cleveland to make it their home and raise their family here.
She worked for many years as a dietician for numerous local health care facilities. She was a devout Christian and of the Baptist faith. She was meticulous in housekeeping and the raising of her family. Her children are forever grateful for her love, leadership and guidance.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Emma Lynn Wilson; her husband, Don W. Nunley; one son, Roger W. Nunley; and one sister, Jackie Ruth Sampson.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory one daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Ken Akins; one son and daughter-in-law, Phillip and Colleen Nunley; two grandchildren: Brandy Payne (Dee Pate) and Scott Carter (Amanda); three great-grandchildren: Haley Payne, Brandon Trentham and Jaxson Carter; and numerous other extended family members and friends.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Ricky Vaughn officiating.
Interment will follow with David Carter, Scott Carter, Brandon Trentham, Ken Akins, Larry Walsh and Patrick McCurry serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends on Monday, 5 to 7 p.m., in the parlor of Companion Funeral & Cremation Service located at 2415 Georgetown Road.
