“We are very excited about hosting the annual event,” said Lee coach John Maupin. “We are grateful to the Cleveland Country Club and their entire staff for helping us put on an outstanding tournament for all the teams involved. The golf course is in great shape, and now we are just hoping for some great weather to match it!”
The field includes six teams ranked in the top 21 in the country by the NAIA. Third-ranked University of the Cumberlands heads the field along with seventh-ranked Lee. Other ranked teams are College of Coastal Georgia, Southern Wesleyan University, Marian University and Lindsey-Wilson College.
Tennessee Wesleyan College is the defending champion and will be joined by Campbellsville University, Reinhardt University, Trevecca Nazarene University, Union College Truett-McConnell College, Bryan College and Talladega College to round out the strong field.
“This year’s field is very strong,” Maupin said. “Numerous teams from this field will end up competing in the NAIA National Tournament in May. We encourage anyone interested in watching some top collegiate golf to come out and attend the event. Tee times will begin at 8 a.m. each day, with the final pairing teeing off around 10:30.”
