Marilyn D. Fillers, of Cleveland and formerly of Madisonville, passed away at 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at Signature Health Care in Cleveland.

She was a retired professor emeritus from Cleveland State Community College after teaching for 35 years.

She loved to read and always kept her pulse on past history as well as current events, in order to keep her teaching relevant. She will be greatly missed by her students and her many academic colleagues who became lifelong friends.

Survivors include her sister, Karen Cash of Marietta, Ga.; niece, Stacie Metcalfe of Atlanta; nephews: Steven Maxwell of Maryville, Timothy Maxwell of Madisonville; several great-nieces and great-nephews; special cousins, Connie Sloan of Georgia; several other cousins; a very special friend, Martha Lane of Charleston.

Shre was preceded in death by parents, Carl and Katherine Billings Fillers.

A graveside service and interment will be at 11 a.m. today at Sunset Cemetery.

Biereley-Hale Funeral Home in Madisonville was in charge of arrangements.
