The joint birthday party, which celebrated the birthday of beloved children’s author Dr. Theodore Seuss, was hosted by the Alpha Theta Chapter.
“We can’t believe it’s been a year since our last joint meeting — it’s already here!” a member commented.
Approximately 43 ADK members and two guests attended the party.
Each of the eight tables was decorated around a Dr. Seuss book theme, complete with favors.
Theme books included were: “ABC Book,” “One Fish, Two Fish,” “Red Fish,” “Blue Fish,” “Fox in Socks,” “The Sleep Book,” “Happy Birthday to You,” “Oh, The Places You’ll Go,” “Hop on Pop” and “The Lorax.”
The ADK sisters who shared a February birthday were seated at the “Happy Birthday to You” table: Paty Plumley, Wenona Patterson, Linda McGill, Vickie Miller and Oletha Parris. A round of “Happy Birthday” was sung to honor the birthday members.
Alpha Theta sisters Phyllis Altopp, Carol Peace and Bethany Stephens presented an entertaining dramatic interactive presentation of Dr. Seuss’ “Hooray for Diffendoofer Day!” When a holiday was declared, each of the audience members pulled their individual party poppers, producing loud “booms” and spreading confetti throughout the room.
Great fun and fellowship were shared by all ADK sisters and guests as they enjoyed a delicious Mediterranean style brunch, a funny Seussical performance and the gift of a Dr. Seuss book.
Remember, “You’re never too old, too wacky, or too wild, to pick up a book and read with a child!”
The Seussational Birthday Celebration concluded with a singing of the “Lamp of ADK.”
