“Having multiple signings is just amazing. We’ve got great student athletes and Reeves is one of those,” Cleveland coach Casey Price said. “He’s dealt with some adversity in his life and he’s overcome all these obstacles and now he gets a chance to do something for himself at the college level.”
For Morgan, signing with Mars Hill has been a relief during a busy senior year.
“It feels great because now I know that I’m for sure going to college. Instead of having to worry about graduation and college, now all I have to worry about is graduation,” Morgan commented.
Morgan is a well-rounded member of the CHS track team, being able to compete in numerous events.
“He does high jump, long jump, triple jump; he’s run some relays as well for us. He’s been consistent. Reeves came to us two years ago from Heritage (High) in North Georgia so we’ve had some time to mold him a little bit. We were in need of a high jumper at the time, so it was a great fit for us,” Price explained.
Morgan, who is a 6-foot-4 high jumper and a 21-foot long jumper, has favored his No. 1 event since he began participating in it.
“It’s always been high jump, ever since eighth grade when I started. It’s been my No. 1 thing, I went out and the first time I did it I hit 5-foot-8.”
Coach Price feels that Morgan will transition nicely into competition at the collegiate level.
“I think he’s a great fit for Mars Hill … he’ll have an immediate impact. As a college coach you want someone who can do multiple things, and that’s why they really want him — because he’s good at all three.”
