John “Johnny” Alexander Hall, 72, of Athens and a former resident of Charleston, left his earthly home to go to his heavenly home on Thursday, March 14, 2013, at Athens Regional Medical Center.
He was a son of the late Spencer Hall, Pearl Womack Hall Palmer, and Jack Palmer.
He was a native of Monroe County and resident of McMinn County most of his life.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Junior Palmer, of Summerville, S.C.
He was a retired employee of Maytag Industries in Cleveland with 30 years of service and was a member of Antioch Church of Jesus Christ.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Faye Fairman Hall of Athens; one daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia Dawn Hall Deeter and her husband, Kenneth Deeter Jr., of Benton; one granddaughter, Leshea Angelique Deeter of Benton; three grandsons: James Osbourne IV, and Dakota Deeter, both of Benton and Austin Deeter of Cleveland; one “special nephew,” Rodger Fairman and his family of Niota; six brothers and sisters-in-law: Spence “Junior” and Jackie Hall of Cleveland, David and Donna Palmer of Athens, Billy and Donna Palmer and Richard Palmer, all of Decatur, and Tom Palmer of Tampa, Fla.; four sisters and brothers-in-law: Mary McKenzie of Decatur, Virginia and Jim Nunley of Athens, Joyce Longwith of Athens, and Mignon Powell of Easley, S.C.; and several nieces, nephews, and close friends.
The funeral will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, March 17, 2013, in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home in Athens with the Revs. Roger Fairman Sr. and Roger Fairman II officiating.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 18, 2013, at McMinn Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be James Osbourne IV, Barry Bennett, Caid Wallace, Spencer Hall, Michael Willis, Allen Boggess, and James Martin.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday before the service at the funeral home in Athens.
