He was a lifelong resident of Cleveland, who was born here on March 9, 1946, to the late Lozier and Ellen Goins.
He was of the Baptist faith. He was a well-known auto mechanic and race car driver. He enjoyed antique cars and antique car shows.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters: June Almon and Arlene Evans; one brother, Johnny Goins; and a special sister-in-law, Phyllis Goins.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Janet Goins; two daughters: Deniece Goins and Charity Goins; four sons: Greg Goins, Troy Goins, Kevin Smith, and Rick Smith; two sisters: Joyce Hall (Cecil) and Barbara Herron; three brothers: Jim Goins (Linda) of Benton, Howard Goins and Roy Goins (Frances); eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister-in-law, Charlene Luther; four brothers-in-law: Riley Shook, Charles “Duck” Shook, Billy Shook and Curtis Shook; a special friend, Patsy Floyd; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other extended family members and friends.
A celebration of his life will take place on Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the Big Spring Baptist Church, located at 1415 Hardwick St. S.E., with the Revs. Shane Lawson and James Staton officiating.
Interment will follow in the New McDonald Eastview Cemetery in Ooltewah with Bobby Doss, John Phillips and Marcus Johnson serving as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Big Spring Baptist Church on Monday, from 5 to 7 p.m. and also one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
