The Lee University tennis teams each recorded their first SSAC wins of the season Saturday afternoon against visiting Emmanuel College. The Lady Flames blanked the Lady Lions 9-0, while the Flames earned an 8-1 victory.

Both teams will remain at home to face former SSAC foe and future Gulf South opponent Shorter University Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m.

The Lady Flames netters evened their season record at 2-2 and improved their SSAC record to 1-2.

Lee swept the doubles matches with relative ease. Tonya Walters and Tarah Garner won at No. 1 doubles, 8-1. Maclain Yowarski and Christy North teamed to win 8-3, while Jodie Rice and Kelsey Lovingood blanked their counterparts.

Walters dropped one game in winning her No. 1 singles match and Garner doubled-up Molly Smith, 6-3, in their opening set before taking the second set 6-0.

Rice outscored Olivia Gish 7-1 in a first-set tiebreaker to record a 7-6 win. She then cruised to a 6-1 margin in the second set.

Yowarski won both her sets against Madalena Frausto, 6-3. North joined Morgan Friedlander in recording straight-set shutouts.

The Flames improved to 1-3 overall and 1-2 in conference play, while the Lions dropped to 0-2 in the SSAC and 3-6 overall.

After a scare at No. 1 doubles, the Flames easily claimed a sweep of the doubles matches to take an early 3-0 lead.

Richard Gamble and Daniel Hardesty outlasted Emmanuel’s Ty Smith and Pasha Zinchenko, 8-6. The team of Vincent Audy and Fabio Medina recorded an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles. Andre Ishida and Patrick Kim won by the same margin at No. 3 doubles.

Smith gave the Lions their lone win with a 10-5 super tie-breaker win over Gamble after the two split the first two sets.

Lee earned victories at the other five singles matches in straight sets. Audy dropped just one game against Zinchenko and Hardesty held Marshall to three game wins.

Medina held off Spivey to win his first set, 6-4, and won the match with a 6-1 mark in the second set.

Ishida had little trouble with Tyner and Kim blanked Brown.
