Cleveland softball suffered another loss Saturday afternoon in the Lady Raider Classic.

The Midway Lady Green Waves defeated the Lady Raiders 8-0 in five innings on the Lee University softball field.

Cleveland sophomore Haley Hodgson was able to hold the Lady Green Waves to just two runs in the first two innings.

The Midway shortstop was foiled numerous Cleveland attempts to get on base with a quick throwing arm to first.

In the bottom of the third Hodgson found her face the target of the ball and despite taking a hard bouncing hit to the side of her face, was able to make the play to get the Lady Green Wave batter out at first.

Hodgson had a couple wild pitches which proved costly affording Midway another run.

A line drive to right field accounted for the next two Lady Green Wave runs.

Hannah Holland made a catch to end the wave of Midway runs and the Lady Raiders went into the top of the fourth facing a five run deficit.

The Lady Raiders were not able to register a run in the remaining innings.

Midway quickly got three more runs with only one out.

Holland snagged a shot that led to a fantastic double play, once again ending the Lady Green Waves’ inning.

The Lady Raiders have now lost nine games straight and won’t have another chance to get a win until April 1 when Meigs County comes to town.
