Library Corner: Regular computer classes begin April 2 at the library

The library is closed today for Easter Sunday and will be open tomorrow for regular hours.

The Friends of the Library Association has announced that Dr. William Bass, founder of the University of Tennessee “Body Farm,” will be coming to Cleveland April 16 for a speaking engagement.

The talk by Dr. Bass will be held at the Little Theater in the Village Green Town Center at 7:30 p.m.

Adult tickets will cost $10 and students’ $5.

There will be a limited “Meet and Eat” reception before the evening talk with wine and heavy hors d’oeuvres.

Reservations for the reception and reserved seating to the talk will be $50 per person.

Special computer classes will be available during National Library Week beginning April 15 and continuing through April 20.

The classes offered will enhance your library experience and help you utilize all the resources the library has to offer.

Classes are limited in size and will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Classes for this week include: Getting to know eBooks: April 15, 10 a.m. to noon; Getting to know the library’s Internet resources: April 16, 3 to 5 p.m.; Internet Safety for Teens and Children: April 17, 10 a.m. to noon; Getting to know your library’s Online Catalog: April 18, 3 to 5 p.m., R.E.A.D.S. Workshop Day: April 19, Nook — 10 a.m. to noon, Kindle — noon to 2 p.m., iPad — 2 to 4 p.m. and Android — 4 to 6 p.m.; R.E.A.D.S. Workshop Day: April 20, Android — 10 a.m. to noon, iPad — noon to 2 p.m. and Kindle — 2 tol 4 p.m.

Regular computer classes for the month of April will require a $5 refundable deposit and are available for reservation at the Non-fiction Desk: Basic Computer: April 2 and 4, 3 to 5 p.m.; Microsoft Excel: April 22-25, 3 to 5 p.m.; Beginning Internet: April 9 and 11, 3 to 5 p.m.; PowerPoint: April 8 and 10, 10 a.m. to noon; and Word: April 1 and 3, 10 a.m. to noon.

EBook workshops during the month are available for the following devices: Kindle — April 6, Nook — April 12, and Android Devices April 26 from noon to 2 p.m.
