Nola E. Martin Carithers, 82, a lifelong resident of Ocoee, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday afternoon, March 29, 2013, surrounded by her family.

She was born on May 27, 1930, a daughter of the late Troy and Susie Fowler.

She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Cookson Creek Baptist Church in Ocoee.

She worked most of her life and retired from the Hardwick Clothes Company.

She will be most remembered for being a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved her family dearly and cherished the time spent with each of them.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, and father of her children, James L. Martin; her second husband, Guy Carithers; and two sisters: Louise Matthews and Katy Martin.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory five sons: Troy Martin of Ocoee, Bill Martin and wife, Carol of Lexington, N.C., Tommy Martin and wife, Ivadell of Ocoee, David Martin and wife, Pam of Ocoee and Steve Martin of Ocoee; one daughter, Charlotte Lepard and husband, Roy of Charleston; one brother, Bill Brooks of Old Fort; and numerous other extended family members and friends.

She was a loving grandmother to several grandchildren.

A celebration of her life is planned for Monday, April 1, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Cookson Creek Baptist Church, 1686 Sand Mountain Road in Ocoee, with the Revs. Lee Ingram and the Gerald Fowler officiating. Janet Martin, Tiffani Stamper and Michael Moats will provide the music.

Interment will follow in the Cookson Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with the grandsons serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at the church tonight, from 5 until 8, and also one hour prior to the 11 a.m. service on Monday.
