The Lee University track team had two runners recognized by the Southern States Athletic Conference for their strong showing in the Rome-Shorter Relays this past weekend in Rome, Ga.
Brad Davis has been named SSAC Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.
Davis placed second in the 200-meter dash with a new school record of 21.36. The Cleveland native also placed third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.60. Both times were fast enough to qualify him for the NAIA Outdoor Track National Championships in Marion, Ind., on May 22-24. The freshman ran the fastest 200m time in the NAIA this season.
Cayce Bryan was honored as the SSAC Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.
The sophomore from Las Vegas won the women’s 800-meter run with a time of 2:15, which was good enough to qualify her for the NAIA Outdoor Track National Championship. Her time was the third fastest in the NAIA this season.
Davis, Bryan and the Lee track team will run next at the Sea Ray Relays in Knoxville on April 11-13. The event is hosted by the University of Tennessee.
