A resolution filed in the state Senate early today would direct the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation to permit the immediate inspection of certain investigative files, records and other documents requested by the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Sen. Brian Kelsey, R-Germantown, filed Senate Resolution 40 that directs the TBI, as soon as practicable, to turn over for inspection all files, records, backup material, notes, interview transcripts, and other exhibits and materials used in and relating to the investigation of District Attorney General R. Steven Bebb by TBI and the state attorney general.

According to the resolution, the General Assembly cannot make an educated and informed decision with respect to whether it should pursue further action against Bebb without inspecting the investigative files and other documents compiled during the course of the investigation.

Additional information will be published in Thursday’s edition of the Cleveland Daily Banner.
