The Lady Wildcats outscored the Lady Chiefs by five runs, winning 12-7.
Both teams went scoreless in the first inning, and it was Sequoyah which took a 2-1 lead in the second.
Polk County was able to add three more runs in the third, thanks to hits by Lily Cuzzort, Ashlynn Johnson and Felecia Johnson.
The Lady Wildcats took a definitive lead over the Lady Chiefs in the fifth, when they scored four more runs. Sydney Sloan batted two of her teammates in, while Kaitlyn Williams and Lydia Triplett each had one RBI.
Another four runs were added in the sixth inning, with Lydia Triplett knocking in two. Jordan Triplett and Williams also each brought an additional Lady Wildcat home.
Sequoyah was able to get three more runs in the seventh, but that wasn’t enough to snag the win away from Polk County.
Jordan Triplett was the winning pitcher with seven strikeouts. She allowed four runs out of seven hits and walked two Lady Chief players.
The Lady Wildcats will be in tournament action at Baylor on Friday and Saturday, weather permitting.
