Mustangs take 2 firsts in track

The Walker Valley Mustangs track team had a bevy of places in recent track and field action with Rachel Lawhorn capturing first place in the discus and the team of Devin Pruett, Jaylon Brown, Zach Hartman and Justin Ware taking the top spot in the 4x100-meter relay.

Lawhorn also grabbed a Top 5 in the shot put with a third-place finish.

Jason Ware, Jaylon Brown, Zach Hartman and Justin Ware were third in the 4x200.

Chaz Fulford finished third in the shot for the Mustangs.

Patrick Scultz had a pair of second-place finishes in the 800 and 1,600-meter run while Keiosha Harrison took third in the 100- and 200-meter dash.

In the boys’ 100-meter dash, Justin Ware was third, Hartman fourth, Jason Ware fifth and Pruett sixth.

In the girls’ 4x200-meter relay, the team of Harrison, Monica Lee, Rhiannon Fuller and Peytin Delk was fourth.

In the boys’ 4x400, Shultz, Connor Clabough, Mason McClure, and Trevor Brantley ran to a fourth-place finish. In the 4x800, fourth place went to the team of Will Burgess, Ian Wesson, Jimmy Ortiz and Clabough.

In the boys’ triple jump, Joshua Riley took fifth place for the Mustangs.
