James E. Stuman, 82, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 4, 2013.
He was a veteran in the Korean War and a very active and faithful member of Philippi Baptist Church, where he served as the chairman of the deacons for 51 years and had proudly achieved over 59 years of perfect attendance in Sunday School.
He retired from Ronnie Parker's Lawn Company.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, Betty "Irene" Hampton Stuman; parents, Henry Stuman and Gracie Mae Hunt Stuman; two brothers: Avery and Henry Jr. Stuman; one sister, Ida Belle Casteel; and brother-in-law M.J. Goforth.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory two sons: James E. Stuman II and David W. Stuman; two special daughters-in-law: Cathy Stuman and Denise Stuman; two sisters: Betty Dean Goforth and Catherine Anderson; brother-in-law, Fred Anderson; two granddaughters and husbands: Calvin and April Stuman Millsaps and Josh and Amanda Stuman Taylor; a grandson, David (D.J.) Stuman; six great-grandchildren: Nathan, Alex, and Leah Millsaps, Benjamin, Elijah, and AnaGrace Taylor; one special niece, Janie Casteel; and several other nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends.
The funeral will be held at Philippi Baptist Church located at 2325 Old Harrison Pike in Cleveland today, April 7, 2013.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m., and the funeral will start at 4 p.m., with Dr. Sam Hooker and Pastor Josh Taylor officiating.
Interment will follow the service at Earls Cemetery. D.J. Stuman, Calvin Millsaps, Stanley Millsaps, Ronnie Parker, Greg Parker and John Elliot will serve as pallbearers. Kenneth McPhail and Rudy Beaty will serve as honorary pallbearers.
