Ooltewah pounded out 17 hits and took advantage of a half dozen Bearette errors to claim a 14-2 six-inning victory. It was the Lady Owls’ first win in five district this season as they improved to 9-10 overall.
Bradley is now 5-8 on the year and 3-4 in 5-AAA play and will host defending state champion Soddy-Daisy (16-5, 7-1) Thursday afternoon, weather permitting.
The Lady Owls jumped on their hosts early Tuesday with three runs in the top of the first and then tacked on three more in the third as the Bearettes committed a trio of fielding errors.
After adding two more runs in the fifth frame, Ooltewah capped off the day with a 6-spot in the sixth.
Down 14-0, Bradley wouldn’t give up, as the first four batters in the bottom of the seventh reached base and two scored.
Sophomore Von Harrison opened the at bat with a single and then advanced to third on a two-base error. After a walk to freshman Chelsea Sadler, Harrison scored on a fielder’s choice off the bat of Cleveland State signee Allison Conley. After a double by senior Baylee Carroll, junior Keirstyn Blair brought home the final run of the game with a two-out single.
Carroll went 2-for-3 with a double to led the Bearettes, while sophomore Chanler Grady went 1-for-2 with a walk.
Taylor Hicks topped the Lady Owl effort, going 4-for-4 with a double and an RBI, while Sloan Sullivan drove in three runs with a single and a double. Summer Williams and Allie Jones each had a pair of hits.
