Walker Valley defeated the Lady Tigers 9-2 on Tuesday night.
Sidney Hooper pitched her ninth win, giving up only four hits and one earned run. Hooper was able to strike out nine Meigs batters.
In familiar fashion the Lady Mustangs’ heavy hitters put on quite a show, with Mackenzie Elrod, AJ Chancey, Brittany Nettles, and Hooper all getting home runs during the game.
The scoring began in the top of the first. Following a Hooper single, Elrod got the home run derby started off and blasted one over the fence for a two-run homer.
Meigs was able to answer with one run in the first.
Both Chancey and Nettles hit home runs in the second, accounting for Walker Valley’s next two runs.
The Lady Mustangs found the bases loaded in the top of the third and Hooper scored when Nettles was walked.
The runs continued coming in the fourth inning. Hallie Davis doubled and was able to score on an Elrod single.
Davis followed her double with another one in the fifth, bringing home both Chancey and Rominger.
The scoring for Walker Valley ended in the sixth inning with a Hooper home run.
The Lady Tigers got the second and final run in the bottom of the sixth.
Tuesday’s game marked the second time in two weeks the Lady Mustangs hit four home runs in one game.
Weather permitting, Walker Valley will take on another 5-AAA opponent Thursday at 5 p.m., when Rhea County comes to town.
