ENGLEWOOD — Just a day after it took the Polk County an extra inning to beat Tellico Plains, the Lady Wildcats were able to end their game against 5-AA opponent McMinn Central in just five innings.

Polk outscored the Lady Chargers by a dominating 14-0.

Winning pitcher Jordan Triplett only gave up two hits and struck out four McMinn Central hitters.

Kaitlyn Williams was unintentionally walker, and then an error allowed for both Williams and Lily Cuzzort to make it back to home plate.

In the top of the second, Williams was able to knock Felecia Johnson in with only one out remaining.

The Lady Chargers’ shaky pitching and another error further helped Polk County get more runs on the scoreboard.

Both Felecia Johnson and Ashlynn Johnson brought runners home, thanks to a bases-loaded situation and back-to-back walks.

The Lady Wildcat racked up seven runs during the third inning.

Four more runs followed in the top of the fourth.

Due to the run rule, the district matchup came to a close after the fifth inning.

Polk County now holds a perfect 5-AA record.

The Lady Wildcats will play a doubleheader against Harriman at home on Saturday, beginning at 12 p.m.
