The Blythe-Bower Elementary School fourth-grade class participated in an outdoor field trip that integrated science, math, reading and the language arts ... and fishing.

This field trip was sponsored by the Recreation Ministry at First Baptist Church of Cleveland and directed by the Blythe-Bower fourth-grade teachers.

Taking their learning beyond the classroom, the fourth-grade class gained a deeper knowledge of fish biology, ecosystems, measurement and fishing through hands-on learning labs on a local farm.

These labs were each led by teachers and volunteers who had experience and expertise in their fields.

This event was meaningful for all the students, especially those who were fishing for the very first time. Following the hands-on learning labs, students ended the afternoon with a cookout and a time for reflection.

All of the faculty, staff and volunteers worked hard to make this field trip not only educational, but memorable for every child who was present.
