Mount Olive Ministries, located on Harrison Pike, invites the community to three performances of “Flame and the Madness of Mercury.”

“Flame” is a Broadway-style musical production that supports the arts and instills character principles. The event is offered to K-5 students throughout the community on Monday through Thursday during the last week of April.

Animated characters are larger than life and special effects abound. From whimsical costumes to super-charged music, kids and adults alike will enjoy an array of special effects that will delight the senses and heighten an awareness to temper feelings such as anger and jealousy.

A 16-foot tall ice cream cone adorns the streets of Sherbertsville while a monster-sized coffee cup hangs from the rooftop of Sherbertsville’s local coffee shop.

“Tick-Tock Clock Shop” sits near the sight of Sherbertsville Town Square, also the location of the town’s upcoming Ball.

Flame, a superhero of honesty and integrity, is endeared to the town called Sherbertsville. Yet, in the midst of this snowy village lies a jealous and angry newspaper owner, Mr. Fitts, who allows himself to fall into the trap of anger and explodes into a villain named Mercury.

It’s Mercury’s plan to melt down the quaint and cheerful village of Sherbertsville and possibly rule the world. In his anger Mr. Fitts uses the makings of the town-circus to unleash his anger and melt down the town. But alas! Flame will save the day using his faith and character to defeat the villain of anger and help Mr. Fitts come to his senses.

Flame’s intervention allows the town of Sherbertsville to be restored back to normal. Mr. Fitts breaks free of his jealous anger while lessons in leadership and self-control are learned by all.

Performances for local schools are Monday through Thursday (April 29 through May 2) at 8:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
