This beautiful “Home of the Week” in Silver Springs is a multilevel home in the Craftsman style loaded with features, including one of its main selling points, energy efficiency.

Today’s research to find new energy and fuel saving alternatives is one of the greatest investments a builder or prospective homeowner can make. Apply their findings to that new home and savings are eminent.

Dennis Epperson of Dennis Epperson Custom Homes has been incorporating “green” technology into his custom-built dwellings for over three years.

Lot 26, at 242 Silver Springs Trail, has Energy Star features, enhancing the investment opportunity that adds to real money savings.

The three-bedroom house is set into the landscape of Epperson’s Silver Springs development, which is a short drive off Freewill Road and just past Mountain Brook and Mountain Point.

The home has 1,575-square-feet of finished living space and a bonus space if the new owner needs additional room. The features installed on this home can save the new owners at least 30 percent annually on energy costs.

Situated on a level lot, a concrete drive and sidewalks have been installed. Keeping with the natural theme of the area, wood steps lead to the front porch and stacked stone and Craftsman-style pillars.

Beautiful and virtually maintenance-free vinyl covers the exterior.

Underneath that exterior, Huber’s Zip System was applied. The Zip System is an energy-efficient sheeting which is sealed with tape, replacing the standard house wrap and offering better wind and moisture resistance.

Once inside the home, beautiful hardwood floors were installed in the great room and other areas.

A gas fireplace with stone surround was also built into the design. Energy efficient Low-e window treatments were used throughout the new home as well as tightly blown cellulose insulation between the studs.

This also creates a tough, effective sound barrier.

A combined dining and galley-style kitchen area are located near the rear door and dining on the outdoor deck is possible.

Custom rich cabinetry, topped with solid counter space and Energy Star rated appliances have also been installed. Energy efficient sliding-glass doors lead to a wood deck at the rear of the home.

The master bedroom in the home is on the main floor and is carpeted. Energy-saving ceiling fans are also installed throughout.

Custom tile flooring was utilized in the master bath and other bathroom areas. A one-piece fiberglass shower system and double vanities are featured in the master bath.

The solid countertops were also used in all restroom areas of the home. The home has 2 1/2 baths.

The master bath also has a large closet which will be completed with custom wire shelving and hanging systems.

Two other bedrooms plus the finished bonus area are in the upstairs portion of the house.

This home has been built “Energy Right” and also features a central heating and air system carrying a 10-year limited warranty.

Downstairs, a two-car garage was incorporated, complete with electronic openers. The property is zoned for county schools. To reach this custom Dennis Epperson “Green” home, travel Candies Lane to Freewill Road. Cross Freewill Road and continue to travel west past Mountain Brook and Mountain Point. Silver Springs is approximately a fourth of mile on the right.

The home is already sold, but Epperson said he is preparing for several new construction projects in Silver Springs. For additional information, contact Rhee Epperson at ReMax Real Estate Professionals at 961-3699.
