Janice Filyaw Smith, 65, a resident of Cleveland passed away on Friday afternoon, May 10, 2013, at her home surrounded by her family.

She was a lifelong resident of Cleveland being born on Oct. 18, 1947, a daughter of the late Hutsell and Nellie Filyaw.

She was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Boanerges Baptist Church in Old Fort.

She loved gardening and tending to her flower gardens and anything to do with the great outdoors. She loved to ride through the mountains and enjoyed the many colors of God’s creation. She was devoted to and loved her church and church family. Above all she was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving and devoted husband of 24 years, Ronnie Smith; four children: Jennifer Davis, Jason Smith and wife, Brandy, Chris Smith and wife, Angela, and Whitney Mieseler and husband, Frank; two brothers: Jim Filyaw and wife, Ann, of Fort Smith, Ark. and Alan Filyaw and wife, Joyce, of Ocoee; five grandchildren: Kirsten Armstrong (Mikey), Harrison Smith, Madison Smith, Gracie Smith and Skylar Mieseler; one great-grandson, Zachary Armstrong; father and mother-in-law Lee and Evelyn Smith of Charleston; and many other extended family members, friends, and church family.

A celebration of her life is planned for Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Boanerges Baptist Church, 823 Boanerges Church Road in Old Fort, TN 37362 with the Rev. Charles Cheatham officiating.

Interment will follow in the Boanerges Baptist Church Cemetery with Brian Keith, Dale Jordan, Frank Mieseler, Harrison Smith, Jason Smith and Chris Smith serving as pallbearers.

She will lie in repose one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at Boanerges Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends in the Cleveland area on Monday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Stuart Park Baptist Church, 850 17th Street NW in Cleveland.
