Mildred Pass Simpson, 84, of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at the local hospital in Cleveland.

She was born in Rockwood and grew up in Lenoir City. She was a 1949 graduate of Lenoir City High School. She was a gospel music singer who as a young girl sang with her sisters on WLIL radio station.

She was an Army wife during the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. She was of the Baptist faith and attended First Baptist Church in Cleveland.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Josephine Pass; brother, Gaston Pass; sister, Louise Powers; and infant sister, Ruth Pass.

She is survived by her husband, John A. Simpson; daughter, Katrina Simpson; son, John A. (Drew) Simpson Jr. and wife, Cindy, of Cleveland; grandchildren: Courtney Cameron and husband, Jay, of Alcoa and John A. (Trey) Simpson III and Jacob Simpson; great-granddaughter, Macy Grace Cameron; sister, Lois Jameson and husband, Tommy, of Loudon; several nieces an nephews.

The family would like to express special appreciation to the doctors and nurses at SkyRidge Medical Center for their kindness and professionalism extended during her final days.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 2013, at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City.

The funeral will follow at 7 p.m. with Dr. Terry Simpson officiating.

Family and friends will gather at the funeral home by 10:30 Friday and proceed to the Simpson Cemetery in Loudon for a graveside service at 11 a.m.
