Velma Lewis Cox, 90, a former resident of Greenwood, S.C., and widow of Judge Rafton Cox, died May 14, 2013, at SkyRidge Medical Center in Cleveland.

Born in Edgefield County, Feb. 9, 1923, she was a daughter of the late John C. and Clara Viola Collis Lewis. She retired from Greenwood Mills’ Matthews Plant with over 42 years of service. She was a member of First Mount Moriah Baptist Church and the T.E.L. Sunday school class of the church.

She was preceeded in death by two brothers, John Herman Lewis and James Courtlan Lewis; and a sister, Margaret Boggs.

Surviving are a brother, Morris Lewis and wife, Nancy, with whom she made her home since 2003, of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted Friday, May 17, 2013, at 2:30 p.m. in Greenwood Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Bryant Sims officiating.

The family will receive friends at Blyth Funeral Home from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday.
