To The Editor:

How to begin? This is kind of a plea for a little help at the (Bradley County) Senior Center on Urbane Road, next to the Cleveland Family YMCA. The center is in need of a riding lawn mower, push mower and a couple of string trimmers (such as Weedeaters).

This is a great place for the seniors in the community to visit. Membership is only $10 a year with lots of benefits.

For example, lunch is served every weekday for only $1 a plate. Lunch begins at 11:30 a.m. Coffee is 25 cents a cup. You must let them know ahead of time if you are coming to lunch.

Activities include a pool room for you old men. There is one room dedicated to puzzles and Bingo, to name a few; there are lots of friendly people to share your thoughts with also.

Want a good, lively conversation? Well, that can happen too! There’s lots going on, so come on in!

While I’m pitching the senior thing, I’d like to invite all of you old-timers to bowling at Leisure Time Bowling on Thursdays. We get a special rate of $2 a game. Bowling begins at 1:30 p.m. and you will have a great time. We even get free coffee. So, come on out and enjoy a fun time.

Again, if anyone has a riding mower, push mower or Weedeater you’d like to give to the center, they would be greatly appreciated.

If you do, or if you want more information, you can call 423-559-2171.
