All upcoming freshman interested in playing baseball for the Bradley Central Bears, are requested to meet at the McKenzie Baseball Complex field Tuesday, May 28 at 4 p.m. for tryouts. For additional information, email Patrick Spangler@pspangler@bradleyschools.org.


Walker Valley will be hosting a baseball camp from May 28-31 for children ages 5-12 at the Bradley County Parks and Recreation baseball fields. The cost to attend is $50 and all campers will receive a free t-shirt. For more information call Joe Shamblin at 584-6494 or Mike Turner at 595-2640.


Cleveland State will host a series of summer baseball tournaments at Cougar Field: June 15- 16, 15-under (enter by May 24); June 22-23, 14-under (enter by May 31); June 22-23, 13-under (enter by May 31). The 15-under tournament and 16-under tournaments will be three games pool play and championship at a cost of $350. The 18-under tournament will be four games pool play and championship at a cost of $400. The 14-under and 13-under tournaments will be three games pool play and championship at a cost of $300. Tournaments will be played under the Tennessee high school rules.


The 11th annual Week of Baseball Excellence baseball camp will be held from 9 a.m.-noon June 3-7 at the Bradley County Industrial Park baseball complex. All children ages 5-15 are encouraged to attend. Baseball fundamentals will be taught in a relaxed and fun environment. Local high school and college players will serve as speakers and instructors throughout the week. The cost of the camp is $60 and includes a camp T-shirt and a fundamental drill notebook. Cleveland State Baseball Coach Mike Policastro will conduct the following summer Baseball Camps: Youth Skills Camp, June 3-6 for ages 6-12, with daily sessions from 9 a.m. until noon. The cost will be $75 and includes a camp T-shirt. The Youth Pitcher/Catcher Camp will be held June 10-12 from 9-11:30 a.m. The Youth Hitting Camp will be June 17-19 from 9-11:30 a.m. Both camps will be for ages 8-16. The cost for the camps is $60 per session and includes a camp T-shirt. There is a $5 discount per camp registration if a participant registers for more than one of the camps. Lee University will host camp sessions at Olympic Field in June and July. A camp for ages 5-15 will run June 10-13 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. The cost for the camp is $95 or $175 for two brothers and includes a T-shirt. There is also a special team rate. The camp will be conducted by Lee staff and players. The camp will stress baseball fundamentals including hitting, bunting, throwing, defense and base running. Games will be played each day. An advanced hitting/pitching/catching camp for ages 8-17 will be held July 8-10 from 9 a.m.-12 noon (hitting) and 1-3 p.m. (pitching/catching). The annual Bear Baseball Camp will be held June 10-12 at the McKenzie Baseball Complex on the campus of Bradley Central High School. With fundamental hitting, fielding and pitching instruction for ages 5-12, the camp will run from 9 a.m. until noon each day. The cost is $50 per camper. The annual Bearettes Basketball Camp will be held May 28-30 at Jim Smiddy Arena, with daily sessions running from 8:30 a.m. until noon. Open to ages 5-14, basic game fundamentals will be taught by coaches Jason Reuter, Kyle Copeland, Katie Frazier and current and former Bearette players. Camp fee is $55. The Marty Rowe Sills & Drills Basketball Camp will be held at Lee University’s Walker Arena June 24-28, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. each day. Early drop off, late pick up available. On Friday, June 28 the camp will wrap up with an awards ceremony at noon. The cost for the camp is $135 (register before May 15 is $125). Cleveland State Men's Basketball Coach Lee Cigliano will be conducting summer youth basketball camps in June and July for ages 6-15. The camps will run from 9 a.m.-12 noon. Coaches Kent Smith, Chuck Clark and Patrick Spangler will he host the 17th annual Bradley Central Bears Basketball Camp June 3-5. The sessions will run from 8:30 a.m. until noon and are open to ages 6-14. Basic game fundamentals will be taught with station instruction from coaches, current players and former Bears. The Cleveland Lady Raiders Basketball Camp for girls in upcoming grades 1-8 will run will June 3-5 at Cleveland High School from 8:30 a.m.-noon. The cost for the camp run by CHS head coach Mindy Kiser, assistant coaches Jaime Baird, Kari Jo Harris and CMS head coach Amy McGowan is $50 per camper. Individualized instruction in fundamentals will be taught with individual and team drills covering offensive and defensive concepts. The Cleveland Basketball Individual Camp for boys ages 6-15 will feature Vincent Yarbrough and be held June 17-19 at CHS. The cost for the camp is $50 with a brother rate of $85. The Bradley County Juniors Golf Clinic for ages 5-17 will be held at Cleveland Country Club on the following dates: June 3, 10, 17 and July 1, 22, 29. Ages 5-10 will go from 8-9:30 a.m. and ages 11-17 will go from 9:45-11:15. Pre-registration will be May 11, 18 from 9 a.m.-12 noon in the Golf Shop at CCC. A final tournament will take place Aug. 5. The third annual Dustin Ledford Live Wide Open Golf tournament will be hosted by Chatta Valley Golf Club June 8. Tee time for the 4-person. select shot tournament is 8 a.m. The cost is $50 per person. Individual entrants will be paired with other to form a team if necessary. Contests include longest drive. straightest drive and closest ot the pin. Trophies will be awarded to th top three teams. There will also be door prizes given away. Chattata Valley Golf Club will host the Walker Valley Wrestling Golf Tournament June 13. Lunch will begin at noon with a shotgun start at 2 p.m. The cost of the 2-person, select shot tournament is $50 per person and includes green fee, cart and lunch. The ninth annual Cleveland Country Club Men’s Invitational will take place July 20, 21. Amateur golfers from Cleveland and surrounding areas will have the opportunity to earn points for the 2013 Chattanooga TPC Championship. The field will consist of the first 144 paid entrants. The entry fee is $135 and includes two rounds of tournament golf, one practice round ranges balls and lunch Saturday and Sunday. The Bradley Central High School Soccer Camp 2013 will be held June 3-5 from 9 a.m. until noon daily. Beginning level soccer instruction for players ages 5-12, plus more challenging instruction for advances players. Bring a ball, cleats and shin guards. Water and snacks will be provided. The Walker Valley Lady Mustangs Softball Camp will be held June 3-5 at Larry Haney Field on the campus of Walker Valley High School. Sessions will run daily from 9 a.m.- noon for upcoming grades 2-5 and from 1-4 p.m. for upcoming grades 6-8. Fundamental hitting, pitching, fielding, and catching instruction will be taught by Walker Valley coaches and Lady Mustang players. The cost of the camp is $50 and will include a free T-shirt. Swing For A Cure Tournament

The Avengers Relay For Life team of Meigs County is sponsoring a coed softball tournament to benefit the American Cancer Society Relay For Life. The tournament will begin at 6 p.m. June 7 and finish Saturday morning June 8. There will need to be five men and five women on the field when playing, 44 core softballs or softer, three home run limit (1 up), 1 hour time limit per game, teams can use there own balls. Men will bat opposite their normal stance. Awards and pictures will be taken on Saturday for the top winning teams. The tournament will be held at the Meigs South Elementary School on Hwy 58. The Gimme Dat Volleyball Camp for girls and boys in grades 3-6 will be held June 3-6 at Cleveland Middle School from 5-8 p.m. The cost for the camp is $40 and includes a camp T-shirt. The Walker Valley High School volleyball team will host its annual middle school camp July 22-24 from 12 noon-2 p.m. at the Ocoee Middle School gym. The cost is $30.
