CDPAC to hold open house
The Avant Garde Dance Company will hold its annual auditions and evaluations Aug. 10 for new and transfer competitive dancers. AGC classes offered in Chattanooga will be available in lyrical, acro-contortion, musical theater, jazz, contemporary fusion jazz and modern for solos, duos, trios, small groups, large groups, lines and productions. Chattanooga CDPAC’s will have registration and open house Aug. 1-3, and continuing Aug. 5-9. AGC auditions and evaluations will be Aug. 10. Cleveland Dance and Performing Arts Center announces the grand opening of its second location in Chattanooga, at 8016 E. Brainerd Road near Hamilton Place Mall.

The open house event, which will be Aug. 1 from noon to 8 p.m., will feature fall registration for new and transfer students, meeting the faculty, touring the new facility and class placements. Dance attire and fittings will be available, also.

The Chattanooga location of CDPAC is ideally located for dancers living in Tennessee, North Georgia and northern Alabama.

The Brainerd Road location will feature two large dance studio spaces, props room, dressing room and lobby. CDPAC II plans to open a dance apparel store in fall 2014.

Classes will be offered for dancers from ages 4 through the collegiate level. CDPAC II will also be available to work with Hamilton County and neighboring counties’ and states’ dance teams, concentrating on technique, conditioning, flexibility, teamwork, dependability, commitment, confidence and performance qualities.

Classes will be offered in ballet, pointe, jazz, contemporary fusion jazz, hip-hop, lyrical, modern, acro-contortion, gymnastics and musical theater.

Ashia Carpenter is CDPAC’s newest dance educator. She is a graduate of Nashville School of the Arts and University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, where she was captain of the Sugar Mocs. Carpenter received her foundational technical dance training from the world renowned DC Dance Factory in Nashville, which is owned and operated by Darrell and Stephanie Campbell.

DCDF has been named in the Top 10 Competitive Dance Studios in the country by Dance Magazine for more than 10 years.

CDPAC is owned and operated by Dr. and Mrs. Charles M. Hooper III of Chattanooga. Staff members include Caitlyn Lynn, Bill Reid, Abigail Bowman, Allyson Valliere, Leslie Dixon, Abbi Cook, Emily Derrick and Caitlynd Harned.

CDPAC in Cleveland will have June summer open house and registration Tuesday from 2 to 8 p.m. July registration will be July 9. Cleveland AGC auditions and evaluations will be held July 20 and 27.

Chattanooga CDPAC’s will have registration and open house Aug. 1-3, and continuing Aug. 5-9. AGC auditions and evaluations will be Aug. 10.
