The Rev. Kay Horner was named interim executive director at the International Center for Spiritual Renewal while the board of directors search for a permanent replacement for Dr. William “Billy” Wilson.

Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Okla., announced Jan. 31 that Wilson would become the school’s fourth president in its history.

According to a press release from the International Center for Spiritual Renewal Wilson, 54, will assume his new responsibilities June 1.

Horner served at the center in 2012 as the national coordinator for Cry Out America, a grassroots prayer initiative that mobilizes intercessors to come together in extraordinary, united prayer for a Christ awakening in America. On Sept. 11, 2012, an estimated 260,000 gathered at 2,600 prayer points across the nation. Cry Out America is an initiative of the Awakening America Alliance, co-chaired by Dr. Sterling Brackett, vice president of Four Square Church, and Dr. David Ferguson, president of Intimate Life Ministries.

"I am thrilled with the choice of the board to ask the Rev. Kay Horner to serve ICFSR as the interim executive director,” Brackett stated in the press release. “Kay's heart for the lost and her passion for prayer uniquely gift her for this assignment in God's kingdom. God's anointing upon Kay is evident to all who know her or meet her."

Horner served as Ministry Projects Coordinator for the International Center for Spiritual Renewal, the spearhead organization for the Azusa Street Centennial in Los Angeles in 2006. She has served in a variety of other leadership roles including executive director of New Hope Pregnancy Care Center, associate and interim pastor of Peerless Road Church, administrator for Voice of Salvation Ministries, and Christian education minister providing insight segments for the “World Impact” television program. She serves as keynote speaker and evangelist with Reflections of the Heart Ministries.

Horner earned a bachelor of science in Christian Ministries/Bible at Lee University.

She and her husband, Perry, moved to Cleveland in 1972.

Dr. Robert E. Fisher, who unexpectedly died on Sept. 28, 2005, founded the International Center for Spiritual Renewal in 1999. On Oct. 19, 2005, Wilson was elevated to interim executive director of the center and executive officer for the Azusa Street Centennial celebration in Los Angeles in 2006. Wilson served as the center’s interim executive director until Aug. 31, 2006, when he was selected as executive director.

“I am excited that Kay Horner will be serving as interim executive director for the center while the search for a new executive director continues,” Wilson said. “Kay is a woman of prayer and an excellent administrator. She has done a wonderful job in leading our Cry Out America efforts across the nation, and has served with me in numerous initiatives over the years. Her skill set and heart for renewal will be a huge blessing to the center during this season of transition.”

Horner said she was both honored and humbled to follow a great friend and spiritual mentor.

“God has great opportunities on the horizon for our Awakening America Alliance as we network with a broader scope of kingdom ministries through the rebirthing of a National Prayer Accord that was recently launched at our Awakening Christ’s Church Leadership Summit in Jacksonville, Fla.,” she said.

The International Center is a kingdom-based ministry focusing on spiritual renewal for the individual, the church and the world with specific focus on restoring spiritual integrity, pursuing scriptural unity, and demonstrating social responsibility.
