Woman charged with aggravated burglary

A George Street resident was charged with aggravated burglary after she reportedly took items from a home on 15th Street Thursday.

According to a report filed by deputy Tommy Kimsey of the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office, he was enroute to file a report at the home of Courtney Petite and Ashley Murphy.

Petite said she had been asleep in the apartment which was rented by Murphy, who is her sister.

According to the report, Petite awoke and found a lady dressed in pink taking items from the bathroom.

The woman later identified as Shirley Tuell, 58, was confronted by Petite.

Tuell then left the apartment.

Kimsey made a traffic stop on a van described leaving the scene on 15th Street.

He made contact with Tuell.

Petite also reportedly identified Tuell as the person who was inside the apartment.

According to the report, a small amount of cash and a pack of cigarettes were reportedly missing from the apartment.

Tuell was taken to the Bradley County Jail and booked on the charge.

- Deputy Jacob Wallace of the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office responded to Santek Environmental, where Frank Fritz reported vandalism and theft to trucks at the business.

According to his report, two walkie talkies and chargers were taken.

Evidence was recovered at the scene. Loss was estimated at $250.

Investigation is continuing.

- A storage building located on APD 40 was vandalized, but no property taken during an apparent burglary attempt.

A report filed by deputy Doug Boucher noted the incident occurred sometime Wednesday.

Linda Silvers said someone broke a lock from a storage unit and gained entry. Items appeared to have been rummaged through but nothing appeared to be missing.

No damage estimate was listed.
