James “Jim” Hickman, 88, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Wednesdaymorning, June 5, 2013, in a local health care facility.

He was a member of Mount Olive Church of God.

He was a retired truck driver also working for the Y-12 Plant in Oak Ridge. He drove a city bus in Cleveland and was a former employee of Cletus Benton and Herbert Benton used cars, Cleveland Chair Co., Penny’s used cars and Jerry Howard used cars.

He loved fishing, taking care of his lawn and gardening.

He was the son of the late Cletus Walter Hickman and Fannie Joan Bonine Hickman. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Louise Baker Hickman; sisters: Cecil Hickman Duggan, Grace Hickman Cody and Sara Lou Hickman Amos; and brothers: Nathanel Hickman and Clyde Hickman.

He is survived by his children and their spouses: Thomas and Sue Hickman, Charletta and the Rev. Gary Sears and Linda and Paul Plotzer; eight grandchildren; eight great- grandchildren; two brothers: John Hickman and his wife, Bea, and Dean Hickman and his wife, Willie Mae; one sister, Bonnie Anderson; and a close friend, Betty Lillard.

A Remembrance of Life service will be held at noon Friday, June, 7, 2013, at Mount Olive Church of God with Pastor Gary Sears and the Rev. James Sears officiating.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Tucker Sears, Kenny Hickman, James Sears, Ken Bess, Travis Plotzer and Preston Bess serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Carson Sears, Breyden Sears and Garrison Sears.

The family will receive friends Friday, from 11 a.m. until noon, at Mount Olive Church of God.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Mount Olive Church of God, 3522 Harrison Pike, Cleveland TN 37323.

The North Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes has charge of the arrangements.
