Ben Roy of Science Zone for Kids will be the featured guest during vacation Bible school for ages 4-13 at Ladd Springs Adventist Church.

VBS will be held June 10 through 14, from 6 to 8:15 p.m., at the church at 5860 Bates Pike S.E. in Cleveland.

Roy is the former director of WTVC's NewsChannel 9 Science Theater. He currently designs science shows and outdoor education programs for schools and other organizations.

He also teaches science methods to education majors at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

He has served as an elementary and middle school principal and teacher, earning the "Teacher of the Year" award for the Gordon County School System in Georgia.

Kids will learn about nature, God, science and the Bible during activities with Roy. There will also be stories, songs and games, according to VBS director, Debra Rivera.

Pre-register children by calling Rivera at 423-208-1713.

During VBS, adults can attend a free  Keeping Kids and Everyone Healthy seminar at the church. The sessions will run from 6:30 to 8 nightly.

“This free community seminar is for parents, grandparents and anyone who wants to enjoy more energy and better health. The seminar is designed to empower those attending to protect themselves and their family's health and well-being. The presentations are based on the discoveries of medical research,” a seminar planner said.

Kid-tested recipes and valuable resources will be given to attendees.

Pre-register for the seminar by Saturday to reserve take-home materials.
