He was a person who always put other people ahead of himself. He was a best friend, a wonderful husband and a fantastic father and daddy to his children, always encouraging them to excel and be the best that they could possibly be. He always wanted to please his dad and made sure his mother was taken care of at any cost.
He was a member of Mercy Tabernacle, where he was a deacon for 26 years. He also served as the cook in the Banquet House. He worked at Allen Manufacturing Chair Co. with his parents from 1968 until it closed in 2000. He enjoyed watching movies, reading newspapers and supporting Polk County and Tennessee Vols sports. If Tennessee was involved, he would be cheering and wearing orange proudly.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Lewis McMahan; mother-in-law, Lorene McCann; grandparents: Jessie and Lillie Allen and Joby and Ellie Hysinger; nephew, Anthony Bradford; and stepbrother, Gary McPherson.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma Allen; daughter, Bethany Allen of Madisonville; son, Joseph Allen of Benton; mother, Joyce McMahan of Benton; father, Jack G. and wife, Irene Allen, of Benton; brothers: Mark Allen and wife, Teresa, of Delano and Darrell Bates of Benton; sisters: Mitizie Creekmore and husband, Ricky, and Terri Bates of Benton; and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Monday, June 10, 2013, at Mercy Tabernacle, 443 Clemmer Ferry Road in Benton.
