Dr. Bill Estes, dean of the College of Education at Lee University and Cleveland City Councilman, spoke at the monthly meeting of the Bradley County Democratic Party. His topic was “The Greatest Short-term and Long-term Threat to Bradley County.” Dr. Estes built his topic around the framework of the biblical parable of the talents and the nature of the third servant. “He didn’t know his responsibility for good stewardship, and had no idea of what could be,” stated Estes. “He didn’t accept his responsibility.” He continued, “The third servant lived in fear of change, of going forward. This is antithetical to leadership – it’s debilitating. This mindset is our greatest threat. However, where there is integrity, there is hope. Our children and the young people know this, and we see it in many groups in Bradley County,” he stated.
