Thompson said he wasn’t sure there would be a show this year, but Watson offered to sponsor the show 100 percent.
Jim Smith and John Sanders of Crye-Leike Real Estate partially sponsored Thompson in 2012.
“This is the first time we’ve had a sponsor for the whole thing,” he said.
The 27th annual event on Highway 64 features live entertainment, free food and a spectacular after-dark fireworks display.
“It will be just like the one last year. We have the same people setting them off,” he said. “We might shoot off more in the finale.”
Watson said, “This legendary fireworks show is a tradition in the community and I’m happy to continue the tradition. I hope everyone will turn out for this family-friendly celebration.”
The musical lineup includes bluegrass band Barefoot Nellie & Co., and Eric Watson & Reunion Friends, which brings together members from The Tennesseans and Tennessee Harmony.
This and other events will be remotely broadcast on 104.1 FM or for uninterrupted coverage from Howard’s Flea Market, tune to 87.9 FM.
The music kicks off at 7 p.m. with the hour-long fireworks display beginning at dark.
Bring an appetite, lawn chairs or let the tailgate down on the pickup truck for an evening of fun and celebration of American Independence, Watson said.
Thompson estimated a crowd of about 13,000 in 2012.
