While the last of the local hopes at the Tennessee Golf Association Women’s Amateur went by the wayside Thursday, some local junior golfers climbed the mountain for strong showings at Fall Creek Falls State Park.

Playing in the TGA/Toyota Junior Tour event at the beautiful natural setting on Spencer Mountain, players from the Bradley/Polk County area brought home a first and a trio of second place finishes.

With the top seven players within two strokes of each other, Walker Valley’s Cory Rollins tied for top honors in the Boys 13-15 Masters division. Rollins, along with Chase Wheeler from Estill Springs and Crossville’s Will Brooks, each fired 9-over 81s to earn a share of the first place finish.

Benton’s Danielle Bates and Rheagan Hall from Charleston shot matching 85s to tie for second place in the Girls 15-under Masters race, just four strokes behind Saylem Powell of McMinnville.

Drew Linkous of Cleveland was in a dogfight for the Boys 13-under Masters but fell just one stroke shy of Rossville, Ga.’s Charles Chambers with a 9-over 45, nine-hole total.

Seth Neighbors also competed in the Boys 10-13 Tour division with an eighth place finish.

At the Vanderbilt Legends Golf Club in Franklin, Cleveland’s Linda Mullins bowed out of the Women’s State Am with a 6 and 4 loss to Anna Cunningham of Crossville in the First Flight semifinals.
