Donald Leslie Rose, 84, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Sunday, July 7, 2013, at the family residence.

He was a member of Big Spring Baptist Church for more than 70 years, where he was also a Sunday school teacher and taught in the R.A.

He was retired from Bowater after more than 25 years of service. He was a veteran of the United States Army and also served in the National Guard and Civil Defense.

He was the son of the late Leslie Rose and Nell Bennett Rose. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Franklin Rose.

Survivors include his wife, Cora Lee Belcher Rose of Cleveland; three children: the Rev. Linda Bray and husband, Richard, of Nashville, Diann Davidson and husband, Mark, of Indianapolis, Ind., and Mark Rose of Cleveland; seven grandchildren: Stacey Bray and Lindsey Bray, both of Nashville, Bret, Drew and Evan Davidson of Indianapolis, Shelby Rose and Levi Rose, both of Cleveland; one sister, Joy Harden of Charleston; several nieces and nephews; and also survived by Deborah Black, Mike Black, Matthew Black and Nichole Black.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 11, 2013, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Rev. Linda Bray, the Rev. Joe Brooks and the Rev. Nolan Phillips officiating

Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with military honors.

Mark Rose, Mark Davidson, Mike Black, Drew Davidson, Bret Davidson and Mickey Torbett will serve as pallbearers.

A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Big Spring Baptist Church.
