The university’s compliance department posted the violations and subsequent punishments on its website.
One of the football violations involved a prospect making an unofficial visit before he had completed his first year at a junior college. In the other violation, a prospect making an unofficial visit attended an off-campus meal intended only for official visitors, causing the staff to exceed the permissible number of off-campus contacts.
The university also reported two minor violations in swimming and one each in women’s basketball, men’s tennis and women’s volleyball.
All the violations occurred since March.
moves to Circle Park
KNOXVILLE — Beginning with the 2013 football season, Tailgate Tennessee, UT football’s official tailgate park, will be moving to Circle Park.
Formerly located in the Humanities Amphitheater, Tailgate Tennessee begins its second year of service to Vols fans in the campus’ premier tailgate locale.
This was made possible in a combined effort by the campus administration and the athletics department.
“We’re pleased that this partnership will allow Circle Park to be more of a gameday destination for UT fans” said UT Associate Dean of Students, Jeff Cathey. “We’ll work closely with the athletic department to assist in accommodating other large group events on campus.”
Among other upgrades to the service this year is a catering partnership with Calhoun’s on the River. The new menus will feature Calhoun’ barbecue, in addition to wings, steak and other Southern favorites.
“We really wanted to enhance the tailgating experience for Vol fans” Tennessee Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Dave Hart said. “Moving to Circle Park is a great way to pull fans into the core of our gameday experience, and we look forward to it developing into the signature tailgating area on our campus.”
