Lionel Seymour “Sidy” Langford, 43, of Cleveland, peacefully passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2013, at his home in Cleveland.

He was preceded in death by his father, Shelby Langford.

He was born Nov. 10, 1969, in Nashville, to Nancy Ware Langford of Cleveland and to the late Shelby Langford of Huntsville, Ala.

He came to Cleveland in the 1970s and was a graduate of Cleveland High School in 1988, where he was a state wrestling champion.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and was employed by the Forest Service for 25 years. He lived a brief time in California.

He was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church where he professed his faith in Christ at an early age and where he later married Lynn Marie Corte-Real on Dec. 15, 1996.

His family wrote: “Lionel’s generosities, kind heart, love for his family and friends and ability to keep you laughing were just a few of the best qualities. He lived his life to the fullest. We love you very much and you will truly be missed.”

His passions were his children, fishing and wrestling.

He is survived by his cherished wife of 16 years, Lynn Marie Corte-Real Langford; and his children: Caleb, Micah, Khylie and Jadon Langford; mother, Nancy (Edgar) Bayless of Cleveland; his brothers: Shelby (Crystal) Love of Bessemer, Ala., Shelton (Sharon) Langford of Chattanooga, Howard Langford of Dalton, Ga.; sisters: Lavoris Coure of Atlanta, Stephanie Drake of Nashville, Shellry (Eugene) Smith of Cleveland, Sheba (Shawnie) Anderson of Cleveland, Ursula Langford of Cleveland; mother-in-law, Maria Corte-Real of Cleveland; father-in-law, Louis (Lydia) Corte-Real of Delano; brother-in-law, Chris (Shelly) Corte-Real of Cleveland; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends today, July 25, 2013, at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 3430 Blair Road, Cleveland, from 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. service time.

The Rev. Mark Pollard will officiate and Bishop Guilford Hill will be the eulogist.

Interment will follow at Fort Hill Cemetery in Cleveland.

Patton Funeral Home, 265 Fair St. S.E. is in charge of arrangements.
